European Network for Media Education

The European Network for Media Education is a growing European cooperation platform that connects organizations, professionals, and institutions working in the fields of media education, digital youth work, and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics).

The network was initiated to strengthen media education across Europe through exchange, joint learning, and the development of innovative practices. It brings together partners from different countries who share the goal of empowering young people and professionals to navigate digital transformation in a critical, creative, and participatory way.

Our Mission

We work to make media education and STEAM competencies a sustainable and integral part of youth work, education, and civic participation in Europe. By connecting local practices with European perspectives, the network supports quality development, professionalisation, and long-term cooperation.

What We Do

European exchange of professionalsWe facilitate study visits, expert meetings, and peer-learning formats that allow practitioners to share experiences, methods, and challenges across borders.
Joint project developmentThe network initiates and supports European cooperation projects (e.g. Erasmus+) focusing on Digital Youth Work and STEAM-related topics such as artificial intelligence, coding, robotics, gaming, virtual reality, maker culture, and digital participation.
Innovation in media education and STEAM learningTogether with our partners, we explore creative and hands-on approaches that combine media literacy with technological, scientific, and artistic skills – from makerspaces and labs to hybrid and digital learning environments.
Strengthening local structuresEuropean cooperation is translated into concrete benefits for local youth work institutions, especially those with limited resources for international networking, by providing access to STEAM expertise, tools, and European best practices.

Our Values

Participation and empowerment of young people

Inclusion, diversity, and equal access to digital and STEAM learning opportunities

Critical media literacy, creativity, and democratic values

Sustainable European cooperation

Looking Ahead

The European Network for Media Education aims to grow continuously by welcoming new partner organizations, expanding its focus on media education and STEAM competencies, and creating opportunities for young people to experience Europe through innovative, media-based, digital, and hands-on youth encounters.

Together, we shape the future of media education and STEAM learning in Europe.
